What products are best for maintaining my natural stone?

So, you’ve just decided to go with natural stone over quartz. Out of dozens of beautiful natural stone options, you finally selected the perfect shade of white granite for your new kitchen countertop. It’s installed and it’s a breathtaking complement to your custom-crafted cabinetry. After months of planning and weeks of construction, you are finally ready for “Happily Ever After” with your new kitchen…or are you?

Do you know the best way to clean and maintain your countertops? Before you let your fabricator walk away from your installation, be sure to get a complete rundown of their suggested maintenance methods. Be sure that you clearly understand how to clean the surface, including which products to use and which products you must avoid. Don’t hesitate to ask for specific brands. Your stone professional should be happy to recommend manufacturers and brands that they like best.

When cleaning natural stone and tile, it’s important to use products specially formulated for those surfaces. Many general-purpose cleaners contain acidic ingredients, like ammonia and bleach, and abrasives that can break down sealers and damage stone surfaces.

Cleaners and sealers are not difficult to get. Most can be obtained at any big box store you visit. But it’s always a good idea to use a top-quality product on your new top-of-the-line countertop.

Not exactly sure what to use? We can help. Here at Marble & Granite, Inc., we carry the adhesives, sealers, cleaners, and more that both fabricators and homeowners need to keep their natural stone looking great.
