But we’re talking about Pantone’s announcement of the next Color of the Year. For the first time, the 2016 color is not one color but rather a blend of two shades: Rose Quartz and Serenity. 

Rose Quartz is a soft pink that’s described as “persuasive yet gentle.” It’s a tone that “conveys compassion and a sense of composure.” While Serenity is a transcendent blue that provides a naturally connected sense of space. Together, they demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue. Pantone says the colors reflect “connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.” A softer take on color, the color blend serves as an antidote to modern day stresses. They’re colors that, according to Pantone, “psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security.

So, how do you incorporate Serenity and Rose Quartz into interior design? Designers say the shades are an ideal choice for rugs and upholstery as well as paint and decorative accessories such as bedding, tableware, candles, decorative bowls, and more. You can even add in silver or hot brights for a bit more sparkle and shine.
