While “Carrara” usually refers to a specific variety of white marble quarried in Italy, the term is often extended to similar white marbles that are found relatively nearby. Turkish Carrara offers a similar look to the Italian variety, with the same visual purity that’s just as striking.

Though Turkish Carrara has a more crystalized appearance than Italian Carrara, it offers the same refinement and consistency. The Turkish variety features a medium grain and uniform background with slight grey veins, which of course vary from slab to slab. Turkish Carrara is the most popular white marble from Turkey, and it’s viewed as a very good alternative to white marbles from not only Italy, but Greece and Spain as well. It’s gorgeous in just about any finish, from fine honed and sandblasted to polished (though polished is the most common choice.)
